I'm super excited to finally announce what I've been busy working on with the amazing
team at Modern Times. My solo show 'Common Ground' opens on Nov 16th,
and I can't wait to share this bold and dynanic body of work with you all.

Common Ground is an extension of ideas that I have been exploring in my practice for some
time; the tension between intent and process is something I continue to revisit in my work. On
the one hand, I feel a strong need to work in an expressionist style, and then once I start, I always
get pulled into the idea of producing strong, bold and almost geometrical compositions.
With Common Ground, I decided to embrace both of those feelings. I wanted to explore more
structured, refined, almost architectural ideas in my work, but didn’t want to abandon the organic
energy that comes out at the beginning of each piece. I found a harmony in this through the
process of painting, building a narrative, layer by layer and uncovering this balance intuitively.
During my time at the Jacky Winter Residency, I was able to work through the ideas of this show.
Being surrounded by nature and having the time to consider my work, I was able to submit myself
to the process and influences simultaneously, not loosing one idea to the other, but
rather connecting them in a new narrative.
